  • Can I take photos with my cell phone?
You have come to us to enjoy an Old Time Photo experience, which includes having us take your photos! Cell phones may not be used on the set.
  • What is Steampunk?
Steampunk is basically a science fiction incorporation of 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery and technology into another historic genre. It’s fun.
  • How much does it cost?
Please refer to our Pricing page for specific cost details.
  • Can we wear our own hats?
Certainly! But you might consider our old-fashioned styles instead of your modern headwear.
  • Can I share my photos?
When you purchase digital images from Emma’s, you will receive a Photo Release that allows you to do as you wish with your images. Emma’s does retain ownership of all images, and asks that you credit Emma’s Old Time Photos when you share.
  • Can I include my dog in the photo?
    Yes. Other pets? Ask us
  • Do you do boudoir?
Yes! This isn't your traditional boudoir photoshoot, and you'll most likely be wearing more clothes than you do all summer. Think corsets, pantaloons, and fishnet stockings. Our Old Time Boudoir session is designed to be more of a private event, and we request advance booking and communication.
  • How long do sessions last?
Generally, you will be ready to leave the studio within a half hour of arriving, prints in hand. Deciding which costume and set you will use, and getting into costume might take longer than the actual session. It is Emma's goal to make sure you have the photo you came in looking for. Once your images are chosen it takes mere minutes to print them for you. Digital images that you purchase will be delivered via email within 24 hours. Emma's sessions tend to be a laid-back and relaxed experience. Appointments are booked on the half hour during the busy season, but whenever possible, we try to allow for an hour to avoid rushing our customers.
  • Does Emma’s provide hair & makeup services?
No we don’t. You’ll want to have hair & makeup ready before arrival. Small adjustments, such as a quick braid, or letting a ponytail down, adding mascara or lipstick, are not a problem. Hats and headpieces tend to cover a lot of hair. Sepia photos don’t show a lot of makeup. Since we schedule appointments at the top of each hour, we don’t have time to accommodate a lot of primping efforts.
  • Do you have props?
Boy have we got props! Guns (non-functioning), dynamite, whiskey bottles (all whiskey is made in the back room - we don't recommend drinking it), parasols, fans, boas, old books, money bags, money (no you can't use our money to pay for your photoshoot), goggles (you should see all the Steampunk props we have!), playing cards, diamonds, canes, pearls, beer mugs, pocket watches, doll carriages, and guns!
  • What if my group is large?
Do you have more than five people in your group? We request advance notice for large groups, and longer appointment times will be reserved for them.
  • Do you charge for children?
Although they usually require more effort than adults do, we don’t charge any more for children than we do for adults!
  • What are your hours of operation?
Our summer hours are posted on our facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/emmasoldtimephotos). Hours vary weekly. We accommodate walk-ins whenever possible, but appointments are preferred. During the winter months, Emma's is open Sundays 12-3 and by appointment throughout the week.
  • Do we have costumes for plus-sized people?
We have costumes in a variety of styles, with sizes ranging from infant to enhanced.
  • Does Emma's provide hair & makeup services?
No we don't. Our booking schedule does not allow for time to fix your hair and makeup, so you'll want to be ready before arrival. Small adjustments, such as a quick braid or letting a pony tail down, adding mascara or lipstick, aren't a problem. Generally, your old time photos will be seen in sepia, and makeup won't make a difference. And did we mention we provide hats?
  • Do you have frames and mattes?
We have several frames and mattes to choose from. We can print images up to an 8x10 in the studio, so our largest frame is an 11x14. Only at Emma's can you find the custom-designed "Cheyenne" frames.
  • What eras does Emma's offer?
We feature cowboy, saloon girls, gamblers, Victorian, as well as 20's gangsters and flapper girls. We can add Steampunk to any era. Ask about our Old Time Boudoir sessions.

  • How do I find Emma’s studio?
1602 Capitol Ave, Cheyenne, WY. We are located in the Hynds Building, across from the red brick Wrangler, in historic downtown Cheyenne. Enter through the door marked Art Gallery. Please Note: We are situated inside an Art Gallery, and we do have to ask that children remain with an adult while in the building.
  • Can I reorder more prints or digital images?
Absolutely! Just contact us; we keep your images on file.
  • Are we allowed to use our own antique or family-heirloom props?
Emma's would love to incorporate your props, as it will guarantee your photo is a one-of-a-kind experience. We will require you to prove any firearms are safely unloaded.
